Poor Quality

Our microwave touchpad recently stopped working after less than 3 years of minimal use. We are extremely disappointed as we paid extra to have Kitchenaid appliances, thinking that this was a good investment in a good name. After reading reviews online, it looks like many other people are experiencing this same problem. We are hoping there is something that you can do about this, as the situation is quite frustrating.

LED display, keypad and microwave not working

Microwave and trim package bought for new McKee home Dec 2017 and the LED display stopped working in certain spots about a year ago, but microwave worked fined. Now over the past few months, there is more spots not working with the LED display and microwave will no longer work. It is useless and needs to be replaced, of course this will require complete new unit and trim package. Not impressed with KitchenAid brand and glad all other kitchen appliances are Frigidaire Gallery. Based on all reviews I would not buy this microwave and would seriously think before buying any KitchenAid product. Not impressed should of went with different brand! Model YKCMS1655

Touch pad stopped working

Just over 2 years of use and same issue everyone else is having. A segment on one of the lights on the display is no longer working and multiple buttons no longer work, including the start button which renders the unit useless. After searching for the control board for replacement to prevent having to replace the entire unit, it appears the part isn't available for purchase anywhere. Avoid purchasing this unit!

Really disappointed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had so many KitchenAid appliances over the years (decades actually!), and this is the first time I am disappointed. If I hadn't just had this microwave custom installed in my beautiful custom cabinet, it would be going back. I bought stainless steel so why is the push button to open the door cheap plastic, and why is it so hard to push that button? Then when you close the door it is ridiculously loud. Ok, it look good and functions as a microwave should, but this whole door and button thing needs a redesign!

Terrible Durability With No Chance of Repair

I bought this microwave as part of a Kitchenaid appliance package as part of a significant kitchen renovation in March 2019. On July 3, 2022, the start button stopped responding on the keypad. I can press all the other buttons, just not the start. I talked to a Kitchenaid representative and was told that other than the turntable ring and glass plate, that Kitchenaid did not make any other replacement parts for this microwave. I can't believe that they are still selling this model. I guess that I will have to throw it out and the matching Kitchenaid trim-kit that I bought.

Nice unit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice unit. Good for its compact size. Be careful, however, in terms of the depth measurement. While the box itself measures exactly as stated, there is a heavy duty plug that extends from the back of the microwave that will not allow it to sit flush against a wall. You must add a couple of additional inches to your measurements to make room for the plug.

Not as good as the previous model

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After 11 years our old microwave needed to be replaced. We had space and bezel restrictions so we chose the same unit. It had been updated. It was deeper meaning the front of the unit stuck out about a half an inch. The controls were updated meaning the time and power level are less friendly. The lower power settings have a longer on time (it heats the food hotter). The old unit cycled in 22 seconds, the new unit cycles in 32 seconds. Ideally it should be running at partial power.

Total Junk - Display and button issues after 2 yrs

Our Microwave is just over 3 years old. After about two years the display started to fail so that the time doesn't display completely. Now, after 3 years, the button that is used to open the door has completely cracked into two pieces. This microwave is junk and should be recalled.

Great appliance and looks great too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced my old Kitchenaid Microvae with a new one. It is built in and works and looks great! A bit tricky to make it work (had to drill a couple holes), which I did not have to do with the older model, but all was good.

Issues From the Start

We seemingly had issues from the start and our installer (large corporation) said there was nothing they could do about it. But in a nutshell, the digital numbers never worked, and that was livable. But when the buttons began no longer working, especially the start button, that makes for a non operable microwave. We have reset breaker, unplugged, etc, but nothing seems to work. We have had this microwave for 3-4 years now and I should have returned it from the start. Nothing fancy except we had it built in, but I will not be buying another one.
